Skin Purging
Up to 30% of the areas of visibly clear skin have pores that contain microcomedones.
Microcomedones are invisible to the naked eye but, at a microscopic level, they look like tiny little pouches filled with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria.
Eventually turns into a 'comedone' (a.k.a. non-inflammatory acne).
Skincare actives such as AHAs, BHAs, and retinoids increase skin cell turnover.
The increase in skin cell turnover allows microcomedones to resolve themselves faster, meaning multiple acne pimples appear on the surface of the skin at the same time, known as 'skin purging'.
Continuing to use the skincare active will help speed up the purging process.
Skin purging should only happen on areas of skin where you would usually experience breakouts.
